YOUNG PEOPLE FROM PALILULA GOT THEIR WORK SPACE

Young Nis from the territory of Palilula municipality, after three years of existence of the Office for Youth, while celebrating the Day of Youth of the City of Nis - September 1, got their space located in Rudnicka street.

The long awaited place for the activities of the Office for Youth of Palilula was officially opened by Boban Džunić, president of Palilula Municipality, Milan Pesic, member of the Council of the City of Nis and Ivana Jovic, Coordinator of Youth Office. The ceremony, in addition to numerous guests, representatives of civil society organizations attended Adriana Anastasov, MP and president of the Youth Council of the City of Nis.

President of Palilula Boban Džunić praised the activity of young and dedication by Ivana Jovic, coordinator of the Youth Office of the Municipality on the persistence to realize this project as recommended by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Volunteers Office showed remarkable dedication to humanitarian cause in the municipality, but also in the activities of rescue residents in the flood that hit Obrenovac. President Dzunic pointed out that in the Programme of the Action of the Municipal development, care for young people is one of the most important strategic goals. "In our work we support youth initiatives and projects; promote healthy lifestyles; encourage economic empowerment of young people, non-formal education; information; respect for human rights, equality and tolerance-stressed Džunić.

According to Milan Pesic, member of the Council of the City of Nis for youth issues, the biggest problem of young people today is unemployment. This year our City has returned the "First Chance" programme and in this way, 60 young people were employed. We encourage volunteering as a way for young people to get work habits and adopt healthy lifestyles to solve this existential question. I am sure that this space in the Office for Youth of Palilula shall contribute to achieving these goals.

Coordinator of the Office for Youth Ivana Jovic urged the young of Palilula to become part of this team. Young people will be in our office, according to the words of Ivana Jovic, and they will be able to inform themselves about possibilities of volunteerism, professional development and more employment. We will be true youth center and creators of youth initiatives.

The decision on the opening of the Office for Youth of Palilula was made in order to create conditions for better life of young people and their active involvement in contemporary trends of social development, Team of the Office for Youth, Palilula Municipality, has participated actively in the development of strategies for the care of young people and the local action plan for the young of the City of Nis in the period from 2015 to 2020. Palilula Municipality and the Youth Office are signatories of the Memorandum of Cooperation with about thirty youth NGOs.
